Adverse weather – be prepared

BE PREPARED! The recent adverse wet weather and forecasted freeze, will have an impact on driving:

Damaged roads: The recent flooding and cold weather has caused damage to the UK road network, with pot holes being a particular issue. Pot holes can cause significant damage to your vehicle, especially tyres. Be extra vigilant and drive carefully in areas where the road may be hidden by surface water.

Road closures: Plan your route in advance and check for any road closures or diversions on your journey.

Check your vehicle: Are your tyres in good condition and inflated to the correct pressure? Are your water levels sufficient – especially screen wash? Are your lights and wipers working? Do you have enough fuel? Don’t forget to complete a vehicle check sheet via the Driver App, if applicable.

Breakdown: National vehicle recovery services are predicting an increase in breakdown and recovery requirements over the next few days, due to the forecasted freeze, which may result in longer than anticipated waiting times in the event of a breakdown. You cannot predict a breakdown, but you can be prepared for it; make sure your vehicle is road worthy, bring a phone charger, check your route, look at the weather forecast and make sure you have warm clothing and fluids available in case you do breakdown. If Fleet Service GB provide breakdown services for your company, you can use the Driver App to submit your exact location – find out how.
