A decision was taken by the business to move from contract hire to outright purchase. Matt Neale, as a proactive Fleet Manager, recognised the considerable potential cost savings, in particular the unbundling of maintenance from any finance agreement. It is anticipated that the whole fleet will be owned outright by Platform within the next 2-years.
Technological and manufacturing advancements mean that predicting vehicle maintenance costs is no longer difficult. Minimum routine maintenance requirement, long service intervals, coupled with long life components, all help in accurately predicting vehicle maintenance costs over any given period.

Platform identified that in order to maximise the cash flow benefits and maintenance cost savings, it was essential that drivers played their parts by carrying out regular vehicle checks. To support this management initiative, Matt Neale introduced the Achieve Driver App which, as part of its intuitive functionality, prompts the driver, on a regular basis, to carry out vehicle checks. Any vehicle issues or problems identified are promptly dealt with.
