Education Education Education

This is not a new slogan of course and yet those up high do not seem to believe in it, because perhaps it doesn’t raise any revenue!

A recent article released the results from a regional police campaign which used artificial intelligence to detect drivers using a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt, in commercial vehicles. The results from the 7-day campaign are quite worrying, but perhaps unsurprising.

If drivers a) thought there was a chance they would be caught, or b) were more aware of the consequences of their actions, then the number of cases would diminish quite drastically.

Back in the day when high profile policing was commonplace on the roads of the UK, motorists took less chances and often when caught doing something ‘wrong’ were often stopped and advised about their actions with no further prosecution required.

Most of us, once more aware, will make different decisions and that’s why the Achieve Driver Continuous Learning programme, which educates drivers in an adult and ongoing way via the Driver App, classroom workshops and in-vehicle training, works so well. Drivers engage with the programme and the learnings, because they just make sense, and work without getting in the way of getting a day’s work done.

Driver wellbeing, coping with fatigue and managing stress are integral to the training and as a result drivers are more relaxed, better hydrated, and feel less fatigued; and as a bonus they also save fuel and get where they are going quicker! The entire programme is cost neutral as the many savings pay for the programme, and in most cases, it even makes money with savings outstripping the costs.
