Are you driving an electric vehicle this winter?

  • Take extra care planning your journey if you drive an EV
  • Batteries do not work as efficiently in cold weather and therefore the range will be reduced. Estimates vary from 30% to 50% reduction, once temperatures drop below freezing
  • Using lights and the heater more than usual will further reduce the range
  • Keep your battery as fully charged as possible and if you have any doubts about the available range being insufficient to either reach your destination or a charging point on route do not set off on your journey.

We recommend completing our ‘Driving Electric Vehicles’ e-learner, which you can access via the app or hub.

Stay safe when driving in the winter months by being prepared. Snow, ice, high winds, heavy rain, mist and fog all make driving challenging and journeys take much longer.
